Doğan EVECEN

Dr. Doğan Evecen completed his Ph.D. in 2021 at the Institute of Social Sciences of Kocaeli University with his dissertation titled “Şehirli Şöhretliler Divanı: Şehrengizler.” He received his M.A. from Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University in 2011 and his B.A. in Turkish Language and Literature from Kocaeli University in 2008. He is currently continuing an associate degree program in Emergency and Disaster Management at the Open Education Faculty of Anadolu University.

Between 2007 and 2008, he worked as a Turkish Language Lecturer at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, and between 2012 and 2015 he served as a web editor at Izmir Institute of Technology. Since 2015, he has been working as a Turkish Language Instructor in the Department of General Culture Courses at the same institution, and since June 2024 he has served as the Vice Chair of the department. His research interests include şehrengiz literature in Classical Turkish Literature, humorous style, the tradition of nazire, analysis of Ottoman Turkish texts, as well as artificial intelligence, natural language processing, and digital humanities.

Between 2017 and 2025, he served as the academic advisor of the Nature and Mountaineering Sports Club. He has published articles in national and international journals. His personal interests include disaster management and search and rescue training, hiking, trekking, mountaineering, and sport climbing.
