HUM 210 – Development of Written Expressions in Turkish

Course Content

This course aims to make students aware of these benefits of writing. After emphasizing the importance and historical development of writing, practical exercises are conducted to improve students’ written communication skills in Turkish. Writing exercises constitute the most important part of the course.

Topics Covered:

Week 1: Meeting, course introduction; writing and its importance, writing and language, written culture
Week 2: Characteristics of Turkish in written expression; spelling, punctuation, and application
Week 3: Written expression types and applications
Week 4: Written expression types and applications
Week 5: Characteristics of written expression, types of written expression, and forms of written expression
Week 6: Composition and paragraph in written expression and application
Week 7: Concept map and application
Week 8: Midterm exam
Week 9: Process-based / planned writing
Week 10: Writing activity – Analysis of film characters
Week 11: Written expression types and applications
Week 12: Written expression types and applications
Week 13: Evaluations on written texts
Week 14: Written and oral evaluations on written texts
